Listening to your body – even when it tells you BAD NEWS!

Listening to your body- even when it tells you BAD NEWS! is the lesson I’ve learned this weekend.  I’ve been pretty much ignoring my body’s plea to STOP and REST due to back/pelvis/hip/sacrum/sciatic pain for the past 2-3 weeks.  AND it caught up with me on Saturday. After my workout I was in a ton of pain and have been pretty much IMMOBILE since then.

I got to the chiro first thing this morning and he told me what I already knew that I needed to ICE and REST so that the cycle of pain could stop.

So….I am taking the week completely off of normal workouts.  It may KILL ME, but I’m going to submit and do it.

The timing of this is not the best with the start of our 6 week contest being today, but I’m allowing contestants to join in up to a week late, so I’ll do the same.

I posted about the TESTS for the contest in the forum and I’ll be posting a bunch more info as we go along, so STAY TUNED!! It’s going to be a fun 6 week challenge!!

I’m off to ICE!

40 days to FIT!! Day 30~ a new CHART!!

I am so excited…I went to the local print shop and got a BIG poster of my HT cycle chart printed and laminated.  AND now that TODAY is finally cycle day 1~ I am going to start using it!  I’m going to try to video it too~ (thank GOD all the WILD thoughts from the longness of my cycle= 30 days; about being preggers are gone)

My plan for today is to get a little bit more work done and then head to the gym around 1:30 or so…Tonight is Gunner’s first FB practice, so I gotta get my workout done before that!

The plan is to do a good back/shoulders/biceps workout and intervals on the treadmill.

this is the workout I’m going to do:

Pull ups- assisted
lbs.
2xfailure
reps.
Lat Pulls or Hammer Lat Pull
lbs.
4×10,6,6,6
reps.
One arm DB lat rows
lbs.
4×10,6,6,6
reps.
Rows or Hammer rows
lbs.
3×6
reps.
Military Press or Dumbell Press
lbs.
4×10,6,6,6
reps.
Upright rows
lbs.
4×8,6,6,6
reps.
Lateral or Front Raises
lbs.
3×6
reps.
Barbell Bicep Curls
lbs.
3×6
reps.
Dumbell Hammer Curls
lbs.
3×6
reps.

Then 20 mins of intervals on the treadmill Treadmill ~ 4 mins of warm up- 1 min  hard; 1min easy

Hope you have a good TUESDAY!!!  I hope to be back with a little video later.

Love ya,

Michelle

p.s. here’s a fun at home ab exercise for you:

40 days to Fit~ Day 29…Wild thoughts!

I’ve been dealing with some wild thoughts the past 2 days…what if I was pregnant? My DH got “fixed” about 5 years ago and I’ve had consitent 27-28 day long cycles for the past couple of years, but today is day 30! I welcome the longer cycle, and back before kids I had a LONG cycle 36 days sometimes…so~ it is not completely weird for my body. Having a longer cycle is much more possible than me being pregnant… BUT STILL~!! Wild thoughts will always arise when hormonal cycles run a bit long and possible pregnancy is involved! I think almost every woman knows that WILD feeling! LOL!!

Other than that~ I had a great long weekend the kids had Friday off of school….Travis took Gunner out to the woods and Gunner got to shoot an armadillo~ AND I took the girls to the mall and out for pizza and then we watched movies. Saturday Gunner when to his best friend’s house and Travis, I and the girls played tennis! It was fun and the first time Travis has played in about 15 years! He was just rusty enough to keep it fun for me, lol!

Then yesterday we just “hung out”…I did some housework and got in a leg workout at the gym.

It was GOOD~ now I’ve been making a really good “to do” list and getting things DONE!!

My POA for workouts: is to do “something” everyday this week….I just need to fit in what I can. This week I am not planning the “days” out…I am just setting GOALS- The goal is to get in at least the following- 2 runs outside; 2 other interval sessions; 2 Leg workouts; 2 upper body workouts~ and ABS daily! So 2-2-2-2 :)

Be sure to set your goals!!
AND settle for nothing short of accomplishing them!!! YOU CAN DO IT!

Your friend,

Michelle

40 days to FIT!! Day 18… Q&A!

Hi all~ today is “Tired Thursday” and day 18 of our 40 days to FIT and day 19 of my cycle~ which means it’s time to BOOST!!  I finished off my buffing phase nicely at 127~ that’s a good weight for me considering I am on Creatine.  I feel lean…at the gym I could see lots of definition in my shoulders and arms and abs!!  FUN to see what’s “under there” and Fun to know the CREATINE is working!!

Today I’d like to share a little Q & A from my BodyBuilding.com private messages:

Question from CINDY~
Hey,Wow – you are such an inspiration to me. Please, please tell me what your daily nutrition is like–I would just love to know what you eat in a day’s time.

Also, your ab routine – would you please share!! I know we are all different, but I had two kids back-to-back (15 months apart). After my first child was born, my stomach went straight back to normal, but when my 9 pound son was born, he really did a number on me. I guess my stomach couldn’t take it so close together. I have flat abs now and I don’t mind working them, but the skin doesn’t look that hot. I have gotten it a lot tighter, but w/o having an abdominoplasty, I would like to see if I could take it to a higher level. Could you just look at my pictures, possibly, and give me any suggestions??? I would appreciate it so MUCH!!

Thanks
Cindy

MY ANSWER:

HI!!

Thanks for the compliments Cindy~ You are really kicking tail…I love what you wrote in your profile about not being too old to get results (BTW-  47 is NOT OLD!!)… You are right on!!!

…I know how frustrated you must be with your tummy, but just look at how much it HAS improved. I can see that you still have room for improvement in your progress pics for sure.

As for advice there are 2 things~

  1. lift heavy often…all the while keeping your tummy tight and engaged
  2. do abs DAILY!

Other than that…I’ve written a book “After Baby ABS” that contains my secret recipe to great abs~ I am sure you would find it helpful.

it’s available on my site www.buffmother.com

Keep working hard, your tummy will improve more and more…once you get another 3-4 months of HARD ab training under your belt, you will get a better picture of if you really have to have a tummy tuck~ that surgery is NASTY and I’d consider it a “last resort”.

As for diet-

Honestly I don’t follow a “meal plan”…never have and never will.  Here is a link to some info about my diet:

Also, I go through my diet in detai in my books~

Have a stellar Day!!

xoxoxo~
